Arizona Cardinals left tackle Mike Gandy has undergone surgery to repair a sports hernia in Philadelphia. The recovery may take three to six weeks, so it is likely that the player will be placed on injury reserve.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt says the operation was performed Friday in Philadelphia and the recovery time is expected to be three to six weeks. Whisenhunt says no decision has been made on whether to keep Gandy on the active roster or place him on season-ending injury reserve.
Gandy has been bothered by the injury for several weeks. He missed the Dec. 6 game against Minnesota Vikings but wore back his Cardinals jersey to play last Monday night’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Gandy did not finish that game and left in the third quarter. Jeremy Bridges was selected to replace the tackle who had started 31 consecutive games for the Cardinals before missing the 30-17 win over the Vikings.
