The New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs and cornerback Aaron Ross will not wear back their Giants jerseys to play the last game of the season for their team, as both have been placed on injured reserve, ending their seasons three days before the season finale.
Jacobs will have arthroscopic surgery on his right knee next week. He played in 15 games and leads the team with 835 yards rushing. As for Ross, he missed the first nine games with an injury to his left hamstring but returned to play four games before reinjuring the hamstring.
The Giants filled the open roster room by signing quarterback Rhett Bomar and safety Sha’reff Rashad from the practice squad, thus keeping both under contract before they become free agents after the season. The practice squad voids were filled by signing offensive lineman Rueben Riley and receiver Bruce Francis.
