Chargers rookie RB Mathews is ready for training camp

The San Diego Chargers rookie running back Ryan Mathews has been determined to impress team officials by performing as well as he could. He recently told reporters that he would take part in the training camp in time on July 15, when all rookies is required to report for the camp.

“My main thing is to get into camp as soon as possible,” Mathews said. “I’ve talked to my agent; I need to be there. Too many guys hold out for all the wrong reasons and I’m not going to be one of them.”

The first-round draft pick from Fresno State is expected to improve the team’s offensive line. But Mathews sounds a bit more outspoken than other rookies, as no one would expect a rookie to skip training camp, it’s really no necessary for him to pledge to take care of his own business in time. It’s not a good way to attract attention at all unless he announced that he would put on a Michael Irvin jersey to appear for the Chargers’ camp to show his support for another team.
